  1. I make a XVCD from a DVD with Smartripper 2.35 /Tmpgenc 2.00.29.113
    352x240 2050 bitrate, 192 audio, 4:3 525 Nstc, highest quality.
Then I go to burn the XVCD with Nero 5.5.9.0
Nero analyzes the file....then gives me a message that the file is is not VCD complient and that Nero will re-encode the file before burning it.
Nero then does this and burns the VCD.
It works fine in my player but my question is why does it have to
    re-encode the file?????
And is it re-encoding the file back to VCD from XVCD lowering the bitrate?
I do notice the picture quality is a little more choppy so I am assuming it is doing this. The older versions of Nero did not re-encode it.
Do I have to turn of the VCD complient ? How do I do this in Nero 5.5.9.0?

One other funny thing is that after Nero re-encodes the file it is 352x288 (Pal)
When I originally encoded it as 352x240 NTSC with tmpgenc. I didnt think my player played Pal Discs? I have a Toshiba SD - 2710

    Thanks for any help,

  3. The problem really is, how do I turn off the Standard Complient in Nero 5.5.9.0.?
It does not give me the option to turn it off it just says that it will
    re-encode trhe file.

    Any ideas?

  4. Do you use the "express" version or standard look. In the standard look you can choose it right after you selected "VCD". Unmark standard compilation.

Don't EVER encode with Nero. Nero gives you some VERY horrible quality. Keep your file that you encoded with TMPGEnc and burn it and you will be able to tell the difference between TMPGEnc and Nero.

  6. Open Nero 5.5.9.0

File > New > Close wizard.

    Choose 'Video-CD'

    Untick 'Create standard compliant CD'

Add your vcd label etc.... click new.

Drag and drop xvcd mpg file > wait for nero to analyse.

    Burn!

  7. I have nero 5.5.9.0 Express so there is no file/open option.
I just can't figure out how to turn off standard complient.
Do I need another version of Nero?
I agree that the quality is bad when Nero encodes,
which is why I am trying to figure out how to aavoid it.
Maybe I have to switch versions unless somebody knows how to turn it off in Nero Express.

    Thanks for any help

  9. Start menu > Ahead Nero > Nero Burning Rom (NOT Nero Express).

  10. Try making a BIN/CUE with VCDImager and then burn that, eliminates NERO standards check.

  11. He/she doesn't have full version so Nero lock a lot of feature which is call Express version. This will happen if first you don't register to the full version or you use wrong serial number or your 30 days period is expired. I'm not sure if Ahead software release express version to d/l from website along with full version.

  12. the express and full version are the same thing (one installation file) if you download from the nero website.
