I used Flask to rip an NTSC DVD and rip with Mpeg 1 NTSC settings as this is the only way I have found to keep the audio in sync

I then tried to burn it with Nero which says it is not VCD compliant so I turn this off. It adds the file but the bar goes off the scale and it won't burn

I will proberbly reconvert with TMPG tonight unless anyone has any other ideas

I have done small clips like this and they work and play on my DVD

If your MPEG file is rejected as noncompliant in Nero, the file size probably exceeds 800 megabytes.

When you make files for VCD that are off-spec, play time becomes less of an issue and final filesize becomes paramount.

    one word, OVERBURN!!

if your burner supports it, you can usually overburn 10,20,30 or so extra mbytes of MPEG onto your disc. i just recently overburned a 806Mbyte MPEG to an 80min CD-R.

just wanted to add that my burner did not support overburning until i installed the latest firmware for my burner. if your mpeg is just a tad over the standard limits of your disc (74min, 80min), overburning might do the trick...

It now easyly fits on a 74 min cd

Thanks for the input and no my burner is only 4x and does not surport overburn

  7. Multiplex it as a vcd, that should fix it...

I am assuming it is not just huge, whenever nero gets a file with an invalid stream, it makes the bar go past the 90 and beyond...

depends on the mode used to burn the data on the disc. mode2 (vs mode1), used for VCDs, allows for greater capacity on the disc.

just check the spec sheets for any burner and note the data capacity listed for each mode.
