  1. Hi, I'm fairly new to DVD authoring but seem to have a problem with no obvious workaround.

I'm using a Pioneer DVD burner on a PC which works just fine - zillions of DVDs of computer data archives.

My standalone player is a JVC XV-S302 (same as XV-S300 apart from case colour).

DVDs authored with MyDVD (came free with burner) work with no problem whatever.

DVDs authored with Ulead DVD Workshop work in all respects EXCEPT that the menu highlighting is invisible on screen using the JVC player. The same DVDs work ok on software players and on a Toshiba player I have tried them on.

Ulead have been fairly unhlpful in responding to this, just dismissing it as an incompatibility problem.

I don't know enough about DVD standards to really know what's going on here, but assume that there is more than one way to encode a menu on the DVD and that MyDVD and DVD Workshop produce different output.

Anyone had similar problems or know a workaround?

I could simply replace the player, but won't know if I am producing DVDs that my clients can't use on their players (my business is computer graphics).

    Thanks

  2. I use DVDWS and the highlight works fine on my Sony's and Panasonic. Let me ask the obvious. Have you updated to version 1.2 and have you tried all the highlight options? If you can't get it to work you can select Preferances, General tab under Help and check Enable Button Number for DVD. The user then can select the number to play.

  3. Thanks for responding. Yes, it's V1.2.

I think we've done an exhaustive test of every possible option in DVDWS. You can change the colours but apparently not the way it highlights - unless I've missed something (and I really hope I have).

I agree that numeric navigation would be an option, but very awkward for an end user. (I used that to verify that the menus worked even though I couldn't see the highlighting.)

Given that DVDWS is widely used, this can't be a frequent problem. It seems to be very specific to DVDWS (and not MyDVD) and the JVC XV-S302 (and not lots of other players).

Anyone got DVDWS to work with the JVC XV-S300/302 without the problems I've had? If so, how please?

Anyone seen these problems with other JVC (or other) players?

    Thanks
