  1. Is this possible? If so, how?

I'd just like to learn how to make simple menus that incorperate pictures. Not boring old text ones.
So if anyone knows how to make a menu with Flash or any other programme, I'd appreciate your help, or a point in the right direction.

  2. you can create your menu in flash and then export it as an avi file. make sure that you dont use any Movie Clips because they wont work when you export the file. if you make an animation, make sure you make it a Graphic symbol. i used flash to make a menu and i made sure that the movie size was 352x240 so it would be seen after i encoded it using TMPGEn.

p.s. i can't seem to be able to get avi files to work on a vcd?

me know, me dumb, me need basics... thanx

sure, you could convert the animation to avi and use it, but any functionality that you put into it won't work, as flash is not the same language as the language used to create menus for dvds. doing a menu in flash is a waste of time, and I can't imagine why someone would want to do it so badly.

using flash to make a menu for a dvd is like using a screwdriver to paint a picture. it's just the wrong tool for the job.

  6. i was using flash to make VCD menus and not DVD ones. i dont have the old "menu" that i made anymore, but if you just do any thing simple and then export the movie as an AVI file, TMPGEn should have no problem with encoding it.

  7. the only reason I could think of using Flash to make menus etc. is to use Flash MX and use ActionScript to modify video/gfx....

There are much better ways of doing it, but that *could* work, then output to avi! Seems a real strange way of approaching it though!

  8. Once again, if Flash isn't the way, then WHAT?

All I want is an interactive menu, that isn't just text. I want to jazz it up a bit with pictures and buttons.

Just name a programme that can do these things...

    Help!

  9. Right, you want menu's on vcd's?
Try Ulead DVD Workshop. The problem is that I'm not sure that vcd supports menu's how you want them, whilst dvd does. You can easily create animated menus for dvd's with most of the dvd authoring programs out there, but then cost is an issue. In the UK where I am, it is very expensive to buy authoring programs like these. DVD workshop is available as a trial version from the Ulead website.

    Hope this helps!
