  1. hello experts,
i`m from europe and received a so called "SVCD" which does not play on my standalone Grundig GDV130.
    It`s ripped from a US-DVD.
I took tmpenc and tried to demux the file. tMPg says:
    Video: Mpeg2, 480x480, 23,9.. fps, bitrate:2600
    Audio: Mpeg1, 128kbit

When I tried to burn that file again using Nero it says it would be a mpeg1 file!! tmpg says mpeg2. is the 23.9..fps the problem?? i think SVCD standard would be 480x480, 29,98 fps for NTSC.
23.9..fps is "NTSC film"..is there a "NTSC film" in SVCD which uses 23.9..fps??

can you tell me why this file doesn`t play on my standalone??..it works on my PC.
Is this XVCD or XSVCD?? I checked the copatibility list...it says my standalone supports XVCD and XSVCD and the bitrate shown above..

    can anyone help me??

    best regards

    Super Video-CD PAL (MPEG-2 480x576 25fps CBR 2520kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

    Super Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-2 480x480 29.97fps CBR 2520kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

    Super Video-CD NTSC Film (MPEG-2 480x480 23.976fps CBR 2520kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

Anything else would be what someone did to make it fit on 1 CD, and would probably not play on your player. You would need to re-encode it in TMPGEnc if your player don’t support the disk type.

You'll probably need to add 3:2 pulldown to the video file. Demux the file. Then use pulldown.exe on the video file. (get it at the tools section). Remux and it should work in nero.

  4. hi there,

thank you for your replies. I had to set the framerate to SVCD standard (29.97fps) using pulldown ...now it works.

    thanx a lot.
