last time i checked(9..no 10 seconds ago) spruce is capable of burning dvd compliant streams to both dvd-r(-rw,+r and +rw) and cdr/w's. have you used spruce yet. if so, did you read the menus. someone else might walk you through it.

i copied this small section fron spruceup help file which explains what it does when you "export"-

"This option is available whenever SpruceUp detects a drive on the system it can write directly to. SpruceUp starts by compiling the title set and writing it to the Working Directory. Any items selected in the Includes section are also written to the Working Directory. SpruceUp displays a progress bar while compiling.

Once the compile is finished, SpruceUp takes a look at the CD-R/RW or DVD-R drive to see if suitable media is present. If there is, then it continues with the export, copying the files from the Working Directory to the disc. If no disc is present, or the disc is not blank, SpruceUp opens the drawer and displays a message asking for a blank disc to be inserted."

    another section from help-

"""You need to balance two contradictory goals: Get the best quality possible with as small a file as possible. File size is particularly important when you intend to distribute your title on CD-R.

Tip: It is very important to know that SpruceUp just passes on the video – it does not process it at all. For example, it cannot adjust the colors or convert from MPEG-1 to MPEG-2.

Always try to have the best quality source possible. MPEG encoding requires finding redundant material in the video so that it can be removed and reinserted later. Noisy video leads to poor encodes, since the noise is interpreted as motion and is carefully encoded and retained"""

search google or kazaa for demo. you can get full version info from http://www.spruce-tech.com but they no longer offer demos. i dont use it anymore, but it usually took me 45-70 minutes to burn and did no reencoding.i found the setup a bit dificult even when you learned everything about it.
