Is there any way I can quicken up the encoding using tmpgenc, It usualluy takes about 4 to 5 hours to convert one part of a two disk film, but for some reason I downloaded Snow Dogs yesterday and when I started to convert it, it said 4 hours estimated time, when I looked later it said 16 hours, at this rate it will be on the telly before I burn the bugger on disk. I'm only running a 500mhz cpu, is this the problem. Help please.

The CPU and other tasks your perform while converting may of course influence the speed. I have a 400mhz AMD processor... so i just fire up the convertion and go to bed or out for coffee

You could reduce your motion search precision setting in TMPGEnc but Cinema Craft Encoder is FAST FAST FAST (about 4 times faster than TMPGEnc given all else same eg. 2 pass). You can use this way:

DVD2Svcd does the same thing to the video (if you choose CCE as encoder) but is far simpler. It takes a little extra time to process good quality audio but since it is an all in one package I don't have to nurse the program along.
