  1. We're looking for a DVD authoring solution that can do the following:

(*) Create SVCDs *with* full menus,
(*) Create DVDs with motion menus,
(*) Create DVDs with AC3 audio

We plan to use these with both CD-R (which we have) and DVD-R (which we'll probably get the Pioneer A04). Is there any single authoring package that can do it all?

I've downloaded the Ulead DVD Workshop trial and really like the SVCD menus it can create, but it doesn't seem to natively support AC3 audio for when we start making regular DVDs. I've also heard that Pinnacle's Impressions Pro is much better than Sonic's DVDit! PE-- but while the newer versions of both support AC3 audio for higher compression and longer titles on DVD, Impression Pro can't create SVCDs.

Opinions, suggestions, & work-arounds welcome! I'd especially like to hear if anyone actually likes DVDit! PE and if there are any problems with it-- for instance, does it support menus in SVCDs?

    Thanks!

    -CV

Stay from DVDit PE, it constant crash for me when making kinda complexed menus...maybe fixed in new pathes though. And it only support DVD authoring no SVCD,VCD.

I'm right now trying Ulead Workshop, it seems to work very good so far. But if you want ac3(DD) you must make it with another application such as latest besweet. Workshop supports DVD and SVCD,VCD.
