Hi everyone. I've been doing the standard PCTV/AVI_IO or VirtualDub capture, then TMPGenc mpeg render,& finally Nero 5.5.8.2 VCD buring.

Everything has been going well until today. Once I've burnt a file, I test it via WinDVD on my bog-standard 32xCD_rom drive & TV out to my television to try & simulate the playback for a standalone DVD type player in future.

Well, with my latest burn, after the initial presentation "menu" page of the VCD,(Well, what Nero calls a menu anyway!), & it goes to play the first chapter, there's a skipping in the video for about the first 3-5 seconds. Afterwards things seem to be okay, but the initial skipping is quite annoying on this first track.

Original mpeg footage plays fine on the hard disk. The finished VCD plays without pauses/skips in the SAME area on my new Asus 40x Burner drive, no problems. The rest of my VCD's previously burnt play fine on both CD_rom & CDRW drives. I've tried burning to both two different branded blank CDR's,(Mitsui Gold 74min 12x & Kodak silver & Gold 80min Ultima 12x CDR's.), & burning at the minimum 4x that the drive is capable of.

The CD-Rom drive is about 3 years old now, & had heavy use I'll admit, but like I said the previous VCD's burnt work fine & it plays Audio CD's & games CD's okay to my knowledge-any thoughts?
