Hey,
Ok, everytime I try to burn a VCD using VCDEasy, it works until the very end when it's telling you which exectuions succeeded and which ones didn't. All the executions succeed except for the CDRAO one. It keeps giving me this weird error message. It says:
"CDRAO execution failed:
Length of toc (66:19:00, 298425 blocks) exceeds capacity of CD-RW (00:00:00, 0 blocks)
Try again first, then
Please use option "--overburn" to record anyway"
I have absolutley no idea what that means. It can't be because I'm tryin to burn too big of a file, because I was burning 650 MB on a 700 MB CD. Any auggestions???

It is probably related to the fact that you are using the wrong driver...
What drive are you using (model, make)?
What driver are you using for CDRDAO?
Try using "Force Driver" and rather than leaving the driver on "default", use generic-mmc or generic-mmc-raw.

My drive is:
0,1,0: LG CD-RW CED-8080B, 1.11. It's made by Compaq
That's the same drive that I'm using for the CDRAO. I'm not sure if that helps but I hope it does! -
Virtualis, I did what you told me to do about changing the force driver thingy and it still didn't work. It told me the same error message. I don't know what's wrong with it. I really don't Any suggestions???

OK, I think I may have a possible solution to my prob. In the bottom left hand corner of the VCDEasy program, it says "ASPI valid: no". Is that suppose to say yes?? And if it is, how do I change it to yes? And another thing, what the heck is ASPI????
-
kooky_e, grab the Force ASPI driver from the link provided
in the tools section and install. ASPI btw is a protocol allowing
software access to your cd burner and other devices on your computer.
ASPI
Short for Advanced SCSI Programming Interface, an interface specification developed by Adaptec, Inc. for sending commands to a SCSI host adapter. ASPI has become a de facto standard that enables programmers to develop applications and drivers that work with all ASPI-compatible SCSI adapters.
EIDE (Enhanced IDE) uses an ATAPI interface compatable with
the ASPI protocol, formally only used for SCSI devices.
ATAPI
ATAPI stands for ATA Packet Interface. It's a variation on the IDE (also called ATA) interface used for hard disks, which is specially designed to accomodate removable media devices like CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, CD writers and tape drives.
..bet that was more than you wanted to know -
Umm, the only thing in what you just said, offline, that I understood was "download" and "install". Well, I downloaded the ASPI thing, but how do I install it?? I opened the file that it unzipped to but there was no icon for me to click on to install. Just a bunch of stuff that I didn't understand. Please help me again...
-
If you downloaded it and unzipped it, it should be pretty obvious how to install it...
One of the batch files is called "install" or something like that. Also, the ForceASPI package comes with a readme file. If you read it, it should become pretty clear.

OK, first the good news, then the bad news. I finally installed the ASPI
. But the bad news is that it still won't burn properly.
I realized that everytime it gives me that error message, it always says something about CD-RW's. But I'm burning with CD-R's. Could that be the problem?? The wrong kind of CD's????

k. I did a search and according to CDDAO (the cd writing software used
by VCDEasy) your cdrom is supported as:
LG CD-RW CED-8080B 1.05,1.06 generic-mmc
so you have to select Force driver and generic-mmc
as the correct mode. Once you have done this, shut down VCDEasy
and restart. All should work.
