I have read a whole bunch of topics about having trouble with sound in vdub, but none of them solve my problem.
when i open virtual dub and go to capture mode there is no sound, is this normal?
if i capture at the side it says it is capturing audio but when i play the file back in windows media there is no audio
i have tried going to the volume control and the line-in is selected
what can i do to fix this audio problem

if this is an egg sucking reply i'm sorry
how about going to control panel, sounds and multimedia and making sure that the correct driver is enabled for sound capture (recording). IF using a creative soundblaster/live you need to make sure of this.
Without it enabled you can hear sound whilst it capturs but nothing will be recorded.
hope this helps
