I copied a vhs tape using Virtual Dub and Huffy codec. The video looked fine when played. I then used TMPGEnc. I used the SVCD template that comes withTMPGEnc. The result looks very washed out. Peoples faces look like there is a very bright light shining on them. Dark colors look ok. I tried using the color correction in TMPGEnc and allthough I could improve it a bit it just doesn't look right.
Does TMPGEnc generaly change the picture this way?
Will another template help?
Thanks

Try this
Select options > environmental settings
click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectDraw" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4
Dont use any colour correction, try it on the DVD/TV first, it always looks better than on pc screen
