    Hi there...

I hope someone can be able to help me out here...
I'm using a P4 2.2Ghz computer and have XP as the OS. When I use TMPGEnc 2.56 to convert from DivX to mpeg, tmpgenc uses 35 hours to convert a movie that's only 1 hour and 30 minutes... Why's that..? Isn't that an extremely long time?
I know that it takes a bit more time when you'll have to resize the movie, but should it really have such an impact on the converting? The movie is 576 * 304, and I want it to convert to 352 * 288...
I also use 2 pass VBR, but even so... I think it takes a lot of time...

I really thought that when you have a 2.2Ghz computer, that the speed of converting would decrease a lot... but 35 hours... That can't be correct... can it?

    Any help would be appreciated...

  2. Open up the template that you are using to encode in notepad, then copy and paste it here.

Also, check your cpu utilization during encoding and tell us what that percentage is, roughly.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

Wow..definately a problem....I average about 1.5 times the movie length for a conversion on a P4 2.0 so...1 hour worth of movie takes 1.5 hours to convert...

Mirror_image has the right idea...Also, make sure in
    OPTION
    ENVIRONMENT SETTING

You have the VFAPI plug-in. I THINK it is incorporated in the latest release, but you have to add it in older ones. Check your processing priorities, perhaps post those.

  4. convert from DivX to mpeg

    Lars17,

a highly compressed divix movie can take ages if you try and
directly transcode to tmpgenc even with a mighty P4,2.2G
    Perhaps you might try using
Virtual Dub or a similar proggie to convert the Divix movie
to another less compressed form - say Divix 4 low motion? or
similar. Anyway, Acrorob and Mirror_Image will assist I'm sure.
