  1. I was wondering if there was a way to take multiple mpg files and burn them onto a dvd-r disk without encoding the mpg files to compliant dvd mpg. Could i burn the mpg files on the dvd-r as a svcd so i dont have to do any encoding? Example: say i have 5 tv episodes...and i want them on a dvd-r so i can watch them in my dvd player thats supports svcd's. How would i go by doing that?

    Thanks

  4. The method listed is the only one I know of. (not saying there are not other ways tho).

The problem is, when you put a disc in your DVD player the first thing it does is determine the media type. It has to do this in order to read the data off the disk! When it sees DVD type media it will only look for a DVD-video file structure and files. If it sees anything different the chances are it won't like it and give up. If you can find a different method that works on your player then good for you. About the only thing worth trying that I can think of is to ignore the step of re-encoding audio to 48Khz, your player may be able to cope but until you have tried there is no way of knowing.
I have heard there are a couple of players on the market that will play any valid mpeg file from CD without the normal (S)VCD or DVD file structure, can't remember the make/model though (it is somewhere in the forum archive). If you have one of those you may be in luck.

If your player can handle DVD-RW, then do a few tests yourself and report back the results. I am sure plenty of people would be interested.
