  1. I'm putting some downloaded .avi's onto VCD. The .avi's have .ac3 sound so: I strip the sound off with VirtualDub, then convert the resulting .ac3 to .wav with HeadAC3he (have also tried ac3decgui with the same results), then use TMPGEnc to combine the new sound file with the original video file. My problem is that the sound seems to come out very bright, or too loud in the upper frequency ranges (like dialogue). To better explain: the voices sound distorted, grainy, gravelly. I've tried messing with the audio effect properties of TMPGEnc (specifically the volume control) but I'm not really sure how that control works. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
