  1. I am trying to accomplish distribution of vcd's that will play on pc 's via the cd-rom drive and open to a menu page that will allow the viewer to select different entry points or chapters within the vcd and then return to the menu page and select another entry point. I need help encoding to mpeg-1 and then setting up the autorun program. My source material is on mini-DV and is 20 minutes long.

Please let me know if anyone is interested in doing this and how much you would charge.

    Thanks!

  2. If you are serious about this, you should probably go to a video mastering shop.

If you are interested in doing this yourself have a look at http://www.vcdimager.org for VCDs.

If you are interested in primarily a PC based platform, you should think of PC specific solutions rather than VCD.

  3. Thanks for your response Michael.

The biggest challenge I have is in creating the mpeg-1 files in tmpgenc. I need to have the best possible quality for this project which is mostly talking head stuff and is being distributed as a video brochure for a small business. I have been unable to get acceptable results in terms of quality and have been trying for the last 3 weeks.

Also what are my choices besides a VCD for the PC based platforms?

  4. you can use DVDit to make a CDVD which puts the video on a cd mpeg-1 or 2. also it has a autolaunch player that it will put on the cd that will automaticlly start playing the mpeg-1 or 2 file. cyberlink powerdirector will do the same thing also.

  5. You are dealing with simular stuff that I have been researching. Need high quality video for playing on PCs. I have only briefly looked at the suggested VCD Imager, so I have not thought about it.

One suggestion to me (somewhere) was Bink Video. It appears this outputs a self-sufficient video so you do not have to worry about what codecs or computer stuff a person has or does not have. THAT is the biggest issue I have been dealing with. http://www.radgametools.com/

Let us know what you come up with. Please.
    Thanks
