A 500? I can capture at 4x3 with my 486DX2/66 so why do you need to upgrade?
All kidding aside, the prices of processors is really low now and an upgrade wouldn't cost too much.
My suggestion? At least a Duron 1 Ghz and get at least 256 megs of RAM to go with it.
The only two 'modern' mobos I've had are the Gigabyte 7IEX4 (pretty good, doesn't work with Dazzle DVC II tho) and my current board which is an MSI Turbo Limited Edition RAID. The board has been solid for me, and the ability to have 4 primary IDE drives hooked up is a strong point. Others here probably have more motherboard experience so listen to their experiences.
