I'm trying to capture SVCD Mpeg-2 format but MMC doesn't have a 480x480 option that I see in lots of guides. I tried hacking the registry but MMC doesn't take it, the registry name may be a checksum of all the values I'm guessing. Any suggestions or help here? I want to write to a CDRW to play in my Apex 660 player but the 480x240 default modes don't play properly.

Try updating the driver's. you could do 480*576 in pal and a apex will turn it back to NTSC so its the same. THe ALL IN wonder RADEON does have 480*480 I know I made a SVCD. TWo thing when I did it use TMPG 12h or 12i. Use the newest NERO so it take the file and you should be fine. If your using a Older ALL IN WONDER. I real can not help you sorry

I installed the latest drivers a couple of days ago and max height for NTSC is 340 and for PAL is 288. Alternatively, I just need a resolution better than VCD quality to watch recorded stuff on my Apex. SVCD, and VCD format Mpegs play fine...they don't have to be formatted specifically but any other resolution tends to have the wrong aspect ratio and play in a tiny corner of the screen.... I know I can reformat with TMGEncoder but I just want to record with MMC, burn to a CDRW and then play directly on the Apex. Can do this currently in VCD format but would like the option of doing in higher resolution like SVCD.

I'm able to do real time 480x480 real time XVCD with my AIW Pro that play fine on both my Apex 660 and 703. Uping the resolution is getting me close to digital cable quality. I've been testing at 480x480 CBR 2.55 Mpeg1. I use Mpeg1 because I can drop it into Nero and burn. I've never heard of an Apex not being able to handle advanced resolutions. What model do you have? -
