  1. I have a problem with Nero which drives me mad.
I made a mpeg files of around 650 MB. When I drag and drop it in Nero for burning, Nero starts with adding and checking them. Near the end Nero warns with "Not enough memory" (I translate this myself from dutch, I dont know what the exact english term is) and stops.
I have 256 MB RAM and RamBooster installed which tells me that there is still 60MB free at the moment Nero stops.
Or does this apply to Buffer in Nero ? Then I still don't understand, because Buffer is automatically configurated to 33MB in Nero.
Please help me with this. Am I doing something wrong and what ?

  2. additional info:
In case you think I didn't do my homework: I did a search here already and found some suggestions to update Nero. Well I did that and I have version 5.5.8.2.
The strange thing is that I get this "not enough memory" message with a mpeg file of around 650MB. When I try it with a file of around 500 MB there is no problem.
By the way I am very new to this stuff, so maybe I am overlooking something logical ?
    Please help.

  3. Memory or disc space?

    1. Try using a 700mb CD-R.

    2. If it is memory, check your swapfile (W9x) or pagefile (NT) size. It may be set too low. Also, turn off Rambooster and anything other programs. Nero and the system should be the only things running.

    3. Get more memory.

  4. Thank you Martek for your help.
The message Nero gave was about the memory. After dragging and dropping the file (680MB) Nero started with checking and analyzing it and at about 80% it said "Not enough Memory". However - I had Rambooster running- there was still 60MB free RAM available. My RAM is 258 MB.
I set the virtual memory already to min.512MB and max. 1024MB.
In the meantime however I found out that the MPEG file I am talking about was made with 704 x 576 FullD setting, which is not the svcd specification I think. Could that be the cause of the problem ? (I am still not so experienced and still trying to learn)

  5. 1. Check out the guides on the site and encode to SVCD specs.

    2. Don't let Nero re-encode. Turn off compliance.

    3. Burn "Track at Once" to an image file - VCD needs to be created TAO, not DAO (Disc at Once).

    4. Now, take the image and load it into Nero and burn to a CD "DAO".
This will trick Nero into burning DAO and you will end up with less coasters, and (S)VCDs that will play on more players. It also takes less system resources during the burn.

Since I've started burning this way, I've made NO coasters (about 50 movies).

    Good luck,
    Dave
