  1. Hi, i've been having this problem for some time and hope someone out there can shed some light on it...

I will burn a .mpg movie clip useing Adaptec CD 4.
After i burn it, i will try to view the VCD with windows media player buy going into the mpegav folder on the CD (like isntructed on a how to tutorial on this site) and i was told to open the .dat file with media player.. only problem is, there are no files at all in that folder. not even hidden files.

I've tried watching the VCD with winDVD and it just freezes at startup. And i have no clue as to what the problem is.
I have checked to see if the SCSI1HLP.VXD is in the system\isobsys folder (or whatever its called) and its there.. nothing seems to be out of place, i just cant figure this out. Can anyone out there help?!

    Thanks in advance..
    -Nick.

  2. did you put the dat file for the video in the mpegav folder? if not, thats the problem, if so, then I recommend just switching to a program made for vcds. I usually use nero burning rom because its made to make vcds.

  3. In the help files i read on this web site, i never saw anything about placing a .dat file in the folder.
How would i go about putting a .dat file in a folder that is already burned onto a cd-r disc?

  4. I don't know how easy cd 4 is but 5 is easy as hell. Try this, I prefer cdr win or nero though.

  5. Thank you everyone for replying. But i found out what the problem was.

As i tried over and over to see if i was doing anything wrong, i noticed that when i open a file to burn in Adaptec CD an error comes up, unfortunetly for me i never seen this error before. I found help for this problem on this web site and encoded the .mpg file that is compatible with VCD standards, and the next time i loaded up the movie and burned, it worked perfectly.

    Thank you everyone.
    -Nick.
