  1. I have the ShareReactor bin/cue images of LOTR SVCD. I have tried to burn them with nero but the discs dont work. I wondered if nero didnt handle bin/cue correctly so I used ISO buster to convert the image and try again. Still no luck. I extracted the contents and tried making my own SVCD using nero, still no luck. Anyone have any advice?

Have you tried CDRwin from www.goldenhawk.com.

It's the best software to use when burning cue/bin files, you could also use Fireburner but it's just a CDRwin ripoff.

    Hope that helps.

  3. Longshot - check the cue file in notepad

If the filename is like "C:\cddir\blah\LOTR1.bin" change to just LOTR.bin without the directory stuff. Also make sure there are no spaces in the filename.

    Now try to burn

Start again with Isobuster, but this time open the bin, browse to the mpg, right-click and Extract but filter only M2F2 Mpeg frames. This time you should have no problem burning with Nero using the SVCD option. Unless of course there are errors on the original. In which case come back and there are other options to try.

Ok, what exactly does this option mean? Ill give it a try when I get home.

Just wanted to add a bit more to my original problem. I extracted all of the original folders and files w/ isobuster. I was unable to run the resulting MPG but I thought that might be because the computer doesnt have a DVD player or DVD software (do you need this for mpeg2 playback?). I dragged this file into the Nero SVCD to get a bum disc (tried the disc on Sony DVP-NS315 [anyone know if this supports SVCD?] and a computer with a DVD drive and software.

Has anyone tried the sharereactor release of LOTR? Could it be PAL? How can I tell?

Thanks again everyone for your help.

  6. Any Nero options I should or should not be using? Juliet, ect...?

It still baffels me that 800mb can fit onto a 700mb disk when using svcd. nero doesnt mind, that was the size of the release and this site confirms it but it doesnt seem right to me. Can anyone elaborate on this?

When you extract mpg with Isobuster, it will play on your PC but it is not in the same form as it was before it was burned to CD. To get to that state you need to demultiplex and multiplex, or, use the option when extracting with Isobuster.

The only option to use in Nero is VCD if it is VCD and SVCD if it is SVCD. The 6th and 7th options down IIRC in the New Compilation window.

  8. Re options: I was refering to the option you have once you select SVCD.

So you should be able to play an mpeg 2 file without dvd software installed on a computer?

Once you have selected SVCD in Nero you only have to consider the burn options - ie speed and finalising disc. If you are worried about the Video CD options, don't. These have no effect when you are burning an SVCD-compliant mpeg. They are for those who want to use Nero's SVCD encoding plugin .

You cannot play SVCD unless you have mpeg2 codec, which should be available on this site. OR, install something like WinDVD or PowerDVD and this will automatically install correct codecs.
