  1. Hi, as im new here, 1st of all, hello

i have some little probs getting the svcd´s on the dvd-r

i went through the article wich is on this site

works almost very good for me

    1. when using dvdit i have following probs
after saving project, i repatch the *.m2v files back to regular size like
480 x 576, then when starting dvdit to burn the project, it seems like
making another test trough and giving an error, the file is in wrong
    resolution format.
    - is there a way around it ?

2.also on dvdit, when importing the files *m2v & *.mp2(a)
it makes them alot bigger in size like 1.5 gigs --> 2.5 gigs
no clue anymore what to do about that.
tryed changing bitrate in video settings dvdit, but doesnt change at all.

3.when i take the 2nd *.m2v from an splitted movie file, there comes
an error about gop structure or so. i tryed mpeg sequence maker
to add the gop structure, but doesnt work.
also tryed to merge the 2 files (1st file never problems) but at 50 %
    import it also stops.
    - this problem using dvdit and spruceup
    - movies are splitted using DVtool, could this be the prob why the
    2nd part never comes up

i tryed the samples if my standalone supports this kind of format
    and it works really fine.
also tryed it with spruceup myself and also works (only thing i only could
use each 1 half of an movie cause all are splitted here already :/ )

    thx ahead

  2. Question 1 - can't help you with that, sorry

Question 2 - DVDit Will change the audio to PCM (uncompressed), if you are using DVDit PE you can select AC3 format and it will convert for you, otherwise you are stuck with PCM which is space consuming.

Question 3 - Simple solution, dont split your mpeg files. If you split and the avi and then encode you shouldn't be seeing this problem. If you still are try setting the number of P pictures in frame (TmpGenc, settings, Gop Structure tab) to 4 instead of the NTSC default of 5. I find it works for me.

  3. thats an start

    yes, im using dvdit pe

audio settings will give it a try

and yes, futere no more file splitting, hehe

so all there is now, is set the size back somehow, i also tryed it with
leaving on 352x480, and burned it then.

when starting the dvd it is in wrong size on tv, when i then try to
ff the dvd more then 2x, the pic freezes, and after pushing play again
the pic is in correct format,

  4. oki, i tryed with dvdit pe audio settings

changed to dolby digital mode, but still the same prob,
    size is way too big

i have the audio in mpeg1 layer II 128 kbit 48000 format
file is named as *.mpa or *.mp2, both same results
is it may its the wrong format

p.s. all works really fine with spruveup dvd authoring, but since i used my 2 trials im hooked up, as there seems to be no way to get an full working version anymore. thats an pain

  5. tryed some other audio specs also meanwhile,

but results are all the same

dvdIT always seems to wants to convert the audio in an huge file

meaning, 100 megs audio becoming app. 1 gig audio

so, i read the guide again, and couldnt really figure out if dvdIT is
able to take an envoded file as it is, ot alway will reencode to its
    format (big filesize)
in spruce it works, there the size stays the way it is

is there a way to encode the audio for dvdit that it dont get that huge
and it will take it as it is ?

    thx ahead

  6. Dvdit comes in two flavours (IIRC). The consumer version (LE I think) and the 'proffesional' version (PE). The only difference that I am aware of is that the professioanl vesrion includes a stereo AC3 encoder. So, if you are using the consumer version it will convert all your audio to PCM, which is huge as you say. If you are using the PE version you have the option of encoding it to stereo AC3, which is much smaller. This option must be checked (in project properties->audio I think it is), otherwise it defaults to PCM.

Spruce I believe will import any DVD standard format audio (PCM, MP2, AC3 etc) and will not reconvert.
