  1. IMHO Nero is no good for burning SVCD (except you use it to burn an image). Anybody has problems that the search function on your player is not working? I think it's all because of Nero. Use VCDImager (GuiVCDImager) to create an image and burn... everything will work fine!! The reason for this is, Nero writes wrong length infos on the disc, so the players get "confused".
Maybe the subject appeared already, but I never read it so thought it would be a good idea to post this info.
    Have fun...

Depends on your player. I burn SCVD and the search funstion works. I have a Pioneer 3 dis changer.

  4. Pioneer players are not a good testbed for compliancy... they are way too forgiving... they would even allow searching if you put MPEG2 streams on a vcd-2.0 formatted CDROM... pioneers firmware is quite tolerant...

Do you have any traces of Adaptec/Roxio software?

Adpatec renders all other burnin progs inoperable.

This problem has nothing to do with the influence of other software. Nero does not make a "Scandata.dat" in the EXT directory for SVCD's. It regards them (if you read the Nero Manual) as obsolete. Some players actually do not need a Scandata.dat to FF/FREW or even to use the search/go to facility.

btw, the /EXT/SCANDATA.DAT is not mandatory for IEC SVCD's because the /SVCD/SEARCH.DAT contains the same kind of information combined with the /SVCD/TRACKS.SVD content...

on the other hand it is mandatory for HQ-VCD's, and where the /SVCD/SEARCH.DAT becomes optional....

actually I don't think they regard it as obsolete, but it's more a matter of getting the structure right... maybe they don't have programmers good enough to accomplish it

Yes, the search.dat has also something to do with it. Mind you if I create a scandata.dat with VCDImagerGui, extract it from the bin and add it to the EXT directory of what Nero gives me - I have a perfect FF/FREW + GoTo/Search SVCD.

Surely you know that Tjchoermans (Vorsprung Durch Technik) have zee best programmers in zee world... LOL

  11. If I use VCDImagerGui to extract the bin/cue files what program do I then use to burn them to make a (x)S/VCD? The VCDImager site mentions CDRDAO, but I'm not confortable compling programs (had a bad experience once).
