Hello, I have a Canon HF G50 and G30. I noticed when doing indoor shooting with a tripod the subject will get darker for no reason at times. Seems like I have adequate lighting. The subject looks great for a few minutes and then for no reason the camcorder will adjust and make it about 20-30% darker. Drives me crazy.

The setting I use is auto. Appreciate any help.

    Thank you,

    Cathy

  2. Don't use auto, basically ever.

The most likely explanation is that the camera is responding to some bright object in the scene, though we would need a sample to confirm that. Another possible explanation is that the viewfinder is simply dimming to save battery life. Again, a sample of the footage would quickly confirm that.

It's fine to use auto to set your exposure, but then you should lock it in manually -- especially in the situation you describe where you have control of the location and the lighting.
