Hi, I have an old flatbed Canon scanner LIDE 110 model which I've had for about 15 years now. Although it only gets used occasionally, I haven't had any issues with it working until a few days ago when I connected the cable to the USB port to my laptop and, although I could hear it connect to the USB, the scanner made no attempt to power up like it normally would do (the scanner normally automatically makes a scanning noise when it is connected). I have used it on another identical laptop which needs repairing, and it was working fine with that, but now all I'm getting is no power. I didn't need to install any drivers.
Anyone know what the problem may be?. it's been stored well and hasn't been damaged. Maybe they only last so many years before breaking down.

Maybe just some busted capacitor,... or the transportation 'lock' is locked,.. https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/General-Discussion/LIDE-110-Scanner-not-moving/td-p/325714

Where is the power source?
Does it use power adapter or does it plug straight to the mains (wall outlet)?
If connected to mains (no adapter) then power supply within the unit is defective. Probably not worth repairing.
If powered via an external adapter then measure the output voltage to determine whether the adapter still working. If adapter is defective, replace. -
No, it just powers via USB, doesn't plug into the mains. I've tried other USB ports and on another PC but still nothing. I can't exactly remember how long ago I last used it when it was working, but it wasn't all that long ago. It could be that UBS cable is damaged, but I wouldn't expect Windows to make that sound whenever it knows something has been plugged into one of the USB ports.
I have another scanner which is an all-in-one printer/scanner (an Epson SX215), but I can't seem to find the drivers that will work in Windows 11.
