Jellyfin .ts File Conversion to HDHomeRun .mpg File

I've had HDHomeRun DVR for five years now and all my captured media files are in .mpg file format.

Just recently setup Jellfyfin and it captures media files in a .ts format.

Frankly, I am not well versed in difference, and even renamed the .ts file to .mpg and it played with no difference.

I thought about converting the new .ts files into a .mpg file format so that all my media is in one file type. Perhaps a bit OCD on my part.

But the conversion process seems to take awhile and I am not sure the effort is worth it. Jellyfin does not have a means to directly capture them as .mpg files.

Can someone shed some light on the big difference and is conversion worth it?

Rename

Video Transport Stream (.ts):

Purpose:
TS files are a container format for storing video and audio data, often used in broadcasting and streaming applications.
Compression:
TS files typically use MPEG-2 video compression.
Examples:
You might encounter .ts files when dealing with DVDs, Blu-ray discs, or streaming video content.

Really no need to "convert" wasting time and quality. Why not select one of your .ts files and post a full MediaInfo file report in text mode not image mode.
