    I am about to buy a Xcard, but as it only plays Divx files encoded with codec 4 or newer, is there any program that can show me with wich codec the file is encoded. Thank you very much, if you can help me eith this.

    most older divx are in 3.11 I've been tod.
    We were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked?

    if you dont want to use virtual_dub, just right click the avi select properties and then details.

    it will give you the audio and video info you need, you might want to use vdub to re-encode the video using a more up to date codec
