  1. Hello everyone, wasn't able to pinpoint a more appropriate support section on this forum, I considered going into the Capturing section but saw it only mentioned older means of capturing stuff for things like VHS, so I decided to just ask here in this section. I'm having some trouble with getting capture settings ironed out for game play captures via VirtualDub2, for some strange reason frames are inserted under a specific circumstance during capture, regardless of the codecs and such that I use. I'm not really a newbie where video capturing is concerned, but I will admit I am pretty picky about my captures, and cases like this is one of them. I'm not able to source out the issue, no clue if there is a setting I am missing or what, but I'm rather stumped. For those who might ask or wonder what I used to capture the game play footage, I used an Elgato HD60 Pro (PCI-E based capture card).

Video to demonstrate the issue, best if you fullscreen since it's a window capture.

  2. You can try:

    -Go in capture mode
    -Choose Capture/Timing
-uncheck both options on the top

May help, but may also cause other stuttering.

I've tried this before and while the video frames are preserved doing this, the audio pitch changes to a higher pitch slightly. Obviously one fix would be to disable the sync between video and audio so both come as they should, but I don't know how wise that would be since aligning audio with video is tedious when it's out of sync.

  4. In the YT-video 33 frames were inserted in 25 seconds. You seem to capture simply in the wrong framerate. I would try 50 instead of 60.

I would try 144. I would also verify the video adapter settings.

No, this is nonsensical in both regards. The game being recorded is quite literally 60 frames per second, the Nintendo Switch in general is not a 50 frames per second system, unless this was PAL standards like back in the day, there's no reason why 50 would be good here. 144 is overkill and isn't able to be chosen anyways as the Elgato HD60 Pro is a 1080p60 capture card, the highest is 60 frames at 1080p max, that of which is what the game play is. I have the settings set to 60 frames per second already, and it works, the problem is about frames being inserted whenever I get close the the Pulse Bombu (enemy in the game seen in the video), and the culprit seeming to be the static effect the enemy induces. I've investigated the recordings frame by frame and quite literally duplicate filler frames exist during those moments, no frame insertions occur when I am not around the enemy, and if you look closely, the frame rate isn't dipping when it occurs, it stays up to 60 frames, it's just that some frames in between are replaced with inserted duplicate frames.

Try AmarecTV. I've written a guide for it here.

It seemed to make sense by just calculating the inserted frames in 25 seconds... But if it's a problem of such a strong enemy, I give up.
I had some thoughts of too high bitrates at special extremely moving situations, but this doesn't seem to make much sense. So good luck!
