  1. Hi everyone. I recently downloaded fan edits from originaltrilogy.com. I want to burn to DVD so I can watch them on ordinary dvd players.

Each film is about 22gb mkv file. I haven't managed to get a programme to work with Mac, but I believe it is possible from various discussions on message boards.

Can any one help suggest one? Ideally it would be v user friendly or have a good how to guide for what I'm trying to do. Also, would rather not pay unless I'm sure it's the programme I need.

    thanks for any help

hmm, do you mean burn to blu ray ?

because there's no way something that's 22gb. is ever going to work in any fashion that will allow it to be burned on ordinary dvd players.

the largest blank disc for dvd is dvd-9. and that tops out at 8.5 gb.

sorry, if i'm getting some elements of your post confused. but your user name is completen00b.

so maybe, we'll have to start at ground zero.

if it's dvd going to have to look for a program (s) that converts the mkv file to a mpeg-2. or to the dvd file structure, so it can be burned to disc.

sorry, i'm not familiar with macs. so i have no suggestions. maybe i can look around a bit.

but that will be a lot of file shrinkage to fit on a dvd. still might work.

  4. I'm not sure if "Burn" the Mac app will convert MKV files, but it'll convert a variety of formats and it is free. I've used it for ProRes422 without any issues and you can choose your bitrate in the settings.
