  1. Hi,

I was wondering, most dvds have 5.1 channel sound for audio. If I use dvd2avi, does the resultant wave mix all the channels together!? Or does it only take the two front speakers? If it only takes the two front speakers dosn't that make the SVCD's audio suck because most of the sound isn't even being heard since you never mixed them together?

Dvd2avi, just like most other ac3 decoders, does a Dolby surround downmix. This takes the two front speakers and processes them so that they can be decoded on a Dolby Surround or Prologic Reciever. Yes the data from the other channels is lost but the reciever recreates them to some degree.

No it doesnt sound bad, dolby surround and prologic don't sound as good as dolby digital or DTS but they are still pretty high quality and you still get the surround effects, albeit with less perceived separation.
