  2. About the best realtime VCD capture cards you can buy for the money are the ProVideo PV-231 and PV-233. Both cards do a great job of capturing realtime VCD, and as they both do the compression in hardware, you won't have to worry about frame drops or sync problems. Both cards use the Windbond compression chip, but the main difference between them is that the 233 has a tuner and remote, where the 231 does not. The 233 can also be set to start and stop a recording at a certain time. With a few registry tweaks, both of these cards will do the kind of quality you are looking for, and you need only a 233 mhz computer, so your P2-400 will work fine. I own one of these cards myself and the quality amazes me. You can buy the PV-231 for $85 online in the US and the PV-233 for $115 at the same place. These cards are sometimes listed on eBay, and there is a new ProVideo PV-233 on eBay right now for $95. Of all the cards I have tried out, I like these the best, as the quality is great and the audio never gets out of sync. Editing is not a problem, and even when edited, the audio stays in sync.
