  1. I searched thru the messages... If this was covered before and I missed it, please forgive me.....

It appears to me that SVCD is sort an "evolving" standard, am I right???

I created an SVCD on a re-writeable CD. I used Pinnacle Studio 7.09 to do this.

My set-top player is a brand new APEX (bought at WalMart for less than $75) a few weeks ago.

Played the newly burned CD on the APEX. Quality is FANTASTIC. No problems there. BUT, no controls whatsoever.... Can't rewind, pause, FF, NOTHING! Start at beginning and watch to end, that's it! Hitting any control on the APEX causes the video to start over from the beginning.

    Comments/Help/Advice/"SA" Comments welcome.

It might be easier to find a solution if you would tell us how you authored and burnt the SVCD.

  3. Thank You.

Authoring was done using Pinnacle Studio 7.09. I don't know if "auhoring" is the technically correct term here, but using Pinnacle I created the MPEG2 (SVCD??) file from captured tape footage.

This created an MPEG2 file on my hard drive... I then used the "builtin" CD burning feature of Windows XP.

FWIW, I have since discovered that my file is fully "controlable" (FF, REW, ETC) when playing it on the PC (reading it my DVD drive) and a software DVD player.

Thanks again. I've dug a bit further thru the messages and notice that this whole topic is actually quite active. I will look even further for my answer.... Perhaps I need to use more "specialized" burner software (E.G. Nero??)
