Hi,
After transferring some footage from DV tapes, I noticed that some recordings don't have any date / time stamps. What I mean is, the place where date and time normally would be displayed is completely blank.
I already know how to adjust an incorrect date / time stamp in a DV AVI file that has the wrong date or time, but is there a way to create a fresh date and time stamp for a DV AVI file that completely lacks a date and time stamp, if I happen to know what date and time the footage was recorded and I want to insert that somehow?
I have Googled but I don't find anything useful. Any ideas?

	dvdate might do it,
 http://paul.glagla.free.fr/dvdate_en.htm
it was used for dvavi and this sort of things

dvdate couldn't create datecode for avis that didn't already have one. enosoft dv processor might be able to but i was never able to get it to work on my win7 systems. --

Yes, I had already tried DVdate and while I was able to adjust date / time codes already present, I wasn't able to create new ones for files that lacked them. The field where the codes normally appear were blank, and unclickable.

Thank you for the suggestion. I found something called DVMP Pro. I'm not sure if that is what I need, but will try it.

Its a little sloppy but you can add the encoded date back as a comment and use this to rename your video:

 Yields this with MediaInfo:Code:ffmpeg -y -i "C:\Users\Bud\Desktop\_Video.avi" -c:a copy -c:v copy -metadata comment="Encoded Date 2016-04-09 23:22:08" "C:\Users\Bud\Desktop\__Video.avi"

 General
 Complete name : C:\Users\Bud\Desktop\__Video.avi
 Format : AVI
 Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave
 Format profile : OpenDML
 File size : 1.25 GiB
 Duration : 1 h 35 min
 Overall bit rate : 1 887 kb/s
 Writing application : Lavf57.21.101
