    I am converting hi8 home movies from my Samsung SCL810 camcorder to DVD with a Sony RDR-VX525 recorder and then transferring to one of my hard drives. They are saving as .avi files, but I want their format to be MP4. Is there a way to have my movies convert to MP4 from the get go on my Sony DVD recorder or am I just going to have to convert them to MP4 afterwards? Thanks for any help!

    How do you "transfer" your dvd to your computer?

    You can use handbrake or vidcoder and open a dvd and convert to a mp4 directly.
