    So to answer the "why the heck would you need to" questions upfront, my VIZIO WI-FI TV gets lousy connections to VUDU, and needs to buffer, a lot.

    I want to capture to a (HD quality) file so I can copy it on over to a USB stick, plug it into the TV, and be done with the buffering already.

    Is this a pay for the software that does it right situation or is there a good freeware option?

    Yes it is against forum rules to ask for help on obtaining video files from subscription services,this thread is closed.
