(total beginner) I have a mp4 video that plays in VCL video. I went to zamzar and converted the file to wmv so I could play it in windows movie maker. When zamzar said where do you want to download it to, I said movie maker. It played once on movie maker, and then wouldn't play after that. If I go onto movie maker and use the import button, I cannot find VCL listed at all. Yet, when I went to zamzar, all the videos appeared and I just had to pick the one to download. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong so if anyone can help me that would be great. Thanks Mark.

  2. wmv doesn't seem to be listed as one of the convert formats on the zamzar site. If you must use that site use the 'mp4 to avi' for movie maker or try to import the mp4 file directly into movie maker.

However I have to question why you are converting that mp4 file in the first place. If you don't want to do any transitions or titles then just use the mp4 file and play it using MPC-HC. That is a much better player than movie maker. Movie Maker is not a player. It is a video editor. You didn't list your computer specs so if you have win 7 that mp4 file should play automatically when double clicked.

Also for your information, most of us here would not use an external site to do any video converting. Once you do that, they have your video. You don't have much control in the conversion process either.
