Can't you output to dvd directly in powerdirector? Instead of avc. -
Your camera doesn't create DVD-compatible video. I can think of worse software to use for downsampling and re-encoding AVCHD to DVD, but offhand Cyberlink is the worst app that comes to mind. If you want AVC video on a DVD disk, you have to burn it as "Data", not as DVD. Your problem after doing that will be to look for something that can play it.

In Power Director...can you select a project profile or setting before you actually edit your video?, I don´t use the program but in others (like Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas) you can. If so, it should match your camera footage as closely as possible. Do you export from your timeline directly to DVD compatible files? (mpg or m2v+ac3/mp2 files, etc...) or do you export to a flie before converting to mpg?
