  1. Many moons back I could have sworn I had a freeware program that did this and likewise I had thought I was able to do this in the very old webzip (offline wedsite downloader program).

Basically lets say I have a web addy such as (dots present so auto forum does not think I am using a real web address) ...mysite.com/1/...

I would need the address to stay the same but have a list (text) generated so it counted up to say 214 ...mysite.com/214/...

Is there a freeware program that could generate this type of list without having to type it 214 times myself

You could likely do this with a spreadsheet program like MS Excel or similar.

Might also help if you clarified why you need to do this.

Thank you both. You are right, I probably could use something like Excel for this project. I like to archive webpages/sites that I obviously like for offline viewing. Of course for the sole reason to have whatever info on hand but also for the reason if said site ever goes down. I then do not have to worry if something like archive.org can bring it up with their waybackmachine.

Sometimes using website downloaders (like winhttrack for example) though defining what directory and such you want, they still have the tendency to grab a lot more than what you are after. In such a situation it is often easier to just feed the actual links you want and have the programs just save those pages only.

As you probably guess, if a certain site has a ton of pages, typing it up is rather tedious and (depending on how many links) time consuming.

The last time though I really did something like this was the better half of 12 years ago. At that time I know I had some freeware program that would make a list like this. I also could have sworn the older webzip had this feature built in.

Since this post I kept tinkering around with webzip and I DID find the option again (in webzip it was under the "view" option and then "savelist"- this brought up a new window where the link generator that I need could be found). Running a test it worked fine and had it done in less than 2 seconds.

So I guess we can say problem solved

Then I read this crap. How about this-- instead of typing up a worthless reply, you should have been knee deep in typing up the list for me Obviously it will then give you something to do because sometimes it helps to take the easier route after reading such a worthless post. For a split second I had to make sure your name was not newball

    Indeed.

The problem with webdownloaders is that they see all links, including ads, on a page.

Let 'em run on their own and you could end up with half the 'net on your PC.

Exactly. Winhtrrack is great but it runs slow and a small site on some occasions has taken several hours to complete. You can define to a degree what you want, but you would then have to type in a slew of exception rules for what you do not want.

Webzip was a good program (last update I think was 2008) but that one does have a better define layout of what you want (such as stay in this directory only). However that one (at least for win 7) will sometimes have hangups or will not be sure what to do with some newer sites and such. That too can also run all over the place

I forgot what site it was a but a ways back I wanted everything from this one website so I had it run (might have been the program "wedsite downloader for windows") left and came back later-- it ended up grabbing like 6 gigs of stuff from all over the net in addition to just the main site which was only about 400 megs worth of stuff
