Hi, I purchased the dazzle product yrs ago and converted my hi-8 tapes to dvd's. I can play them on my computer but would like to download to computer , is this possible? Also, I lost the dazzle product and still have some tapes to convert , is there a more inexpensive product I can use to convert hi-8's to dvd?
Thank you!

Copy the video_ts folder to your hdd using windows explorer. Play/open the folder with vlc media player, mpchc, etc.
Or use the old vob2mpg and get a single mpg from your dvd. -
Thank you for your quick reply. I just need to ask if I download that link it
Will enable me to download to my computer? A lot
Of your abbreviated codes are a foreign language to me 😜 -

Ok I saved it to my hard drive and it's playing great.
Second question , for my hi8 tapes that
Need to go to DVD yet, what can I use to connect
Old camcorder to computer to get to DVD instead
Of dazzle? Thank you! -
For the first situation, play the DVD on VLC and use the "record" feature. (Make sure you get the first few seconds, which can be tricky...it's trial and error time.)
The DVD recording will store on the computer as a .mpg file.
Whatever you do, do NOT dispose of the DVDs after this. Storing precious recordings on a hard drive only is a disaster waiting to happen.
For the high8 tapes, what type of output cord does the camcorder have, and how did you connect it to the computer the first time? -
Hi This thread raises my question for me - so thanks. Can I add the following. I had Dazzle Fast (software) also some years ago and used to capture from VHS (small take in large adapter to fit a normal VHS). The results went into Premiere 6.5.
As a result I have some DVDs authored via Sonic My DVD and some bb the later Roxio creator 9, which I think included the MyDVD suite.
Coming back late to the material, I find .m2v files on my old disks and some .mpg from Premiere. I also have most of the DVDs burnt.
I no longer have the use-codes for either MyDVD or Creator - stupidly lost during a move.
What is the best way to get the material back inside an amateur-use video editing system for further processing?
and what is vob2mpg please Baldrick?
Like Summerfive then I have old DVDs to get back onto file for further processing plus some more tapes (mine mini-VHS but also some DV)
Would be great to have some good advice as to what to use these days as things have moved on to get the material on disk and edit it to new DVDs.
Summerfive, I do not mean to interfere in your thread, but thought we seemed to be working on similar issues
