    I have wintv v6 and would like to capture mpeg2 without the live tv file,is this doable and how.

    What do you mean by "live tv file"?

    When I open the folder it was captured to there two files one said live tv or pause.I just need a single mpeg2 file

    Stop pressing "Pause" while recording. It's better to edit afterwards if needed and eliminates the possible introduction of sync issues.
    Go into settings and set your disc buffering to "0" - this should stop the recording of paused signal.
    If the pause file does not contain anything you need.....delete it.
