    Howdy!
Tried to post earlier, but the computer crashed, so it appears the post didn't go through..
I have an older computer and the burning software isn't working most of the time anymore so I bought an external burner. However the new software will recognize a data DVD but not a Video DVD, so am looking for a good VIDEO burning software. Have tried a number of free ones on the internet, and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't ( mostly don"t!)
I have heard that Imgburn works well, but that some of the newer versions have mal/ adware in them. I have heard if you are a real computer whiz you can avoid them, but I am not in that category. I was told the older versions work well, and don't have adware in them. does anyone know what versions, and a good clean site where one can download it without nasty problems, as I have been told some downloading sites are not "clean"
    Thanks!!

Just download the 2.5.7.0 version of Imgburn from the VideoHelp site itself.

Just to clarify, the adware/etc. is in the installer, not Imgburn itself; if you don't mind using an archive handler to extract everything from the installer, you can use the latest versions of Imgburn without worrying about the adware, or whether or not you've opted-out from everything correctly.

You don't need to be a computer wiz. You just need to choose Custom Installation and uncheck any extra software. How hard can it be?

Does anyone know if there is a way to direct the burn to an external burner instead of the one in the computer ( that doesn't always work as it is an old computer ) with the Imgburn 2.5.7.0 version?
Like I said, I am not a computer "whiz" in some areas..
    Thanks!

Your external burner needs to be connected via usb, and it needs to be plugged in for power (if it has an external power adapter). Start Imgburn and select Write files/folders to disc.

In the main window of ImgBurn there is a line labeled Destination. Your internal burner is probably showing up there now. At the end of the line, on the right side, is a down arrow. Click on this and you should see your external drive listed as well as the internal one. Click on the external drive to select it.

    Howdy.
Tried to download imgburn 2.5.7.0, not sure if it was the lousy internet connection or what, but
recieved a notice that I should not run the software, but the computer asked if I wanted to run it anyways. so I tried and then got a notice that
the file was"corrupted" according to the notice..
Not sure if the software is not compatible to the newer laptop, if I should re-try to download it or try a different software such as Nero express burn 3.
Not even sure if nero express burn 3 will burn Video DVDs..
    What do you folks think??

    Howdy!Help!!
I finally got imgburn 2.5.7.0 Downloaded and working, but this "newbie" got stuck.
I tried to burn a DVD (the file was a converted to DVD by AVS4you converter)
and clicked on "write files/folders to disc, then clicked on the folder, which included both video and audio files. the destination appeared, and everything appeared to burn properly.
,BUT when i went to play it in the DVD player, all we got was sound no video..
Should I have only put the video_ts file in the burner instead of the whole thing?
I started to try it again, and message showed up saying it was the wrong mode for a video, and I needed to use "build " to make a video, so I figure it needed to be in "create image file from files/folders"
When I tried that selection, nothing showed up in the "destination" file, and there was nothing in the drop down section near the end of the "destination" box...
Any idea what I am doing wrong??
    Thanks for all the help..

Creating an image file from folders produces an ISO file on your hard drive. You can then go to Write mode and burn the ISO to a disc.

As far as no video on your burned disc, this is not a problem with ImgBurn, but with your conversion program. I suggest converting to DVD-video using a free tool called AVStoDVD.

Pardon my ignorance, is what you are saying-- first you have to "create image file from files/folders" and turn your DVD files into an ISO then you "write files/folders to disc" and it will burn??
Or will the "create image file from files/folders" turn what ever video format (WMV,MP4 ect) into an ISO?
Like I said I am learning as I go along, and I have made more than a few "coasters" from unusable DVD disks..
Also, what is the difference between AVStoDVD and AVS4you?
Isn't it the same company/software? or a different version of the software from the same company?
There is a folder on AVS4you that is supposed to convert from what ever format to DVD on the AVS4you page, which is what I used to convert WMVs into what it said was a DVD format, and alll I got was sound, no video.
I thought it was maybe because I put the whole folder into the "burn folder" bar, and not just the video_ts file..
    thanks lots for your time..

This is what you need https://www.videohelp.com/tools/ConvertXtoDVD the best payware program to convert movie files to and burn dvds.

Here is the home page for AVStoDVD: https://sites.google.com/site/avstodvdmain/home I'd recommend this free software over ConvertXtoDVD any day if you are interested in quality of output. ConvertX may be faster. And it is not related to crapware like AVS4You.

Default output from AVStoDVD will be DVD-video in file format (Video_TS and Audio_TS folders). Import the folders into ImgBurn in Build Mode to burn to a disc.

Finally got a bit of a break from work..
    Does Avs2DVD have a burn program on it?Does Avs2DVD have any adware/malware?
I have heard that Burnaware is a decent burner but that there is adware /malware in some versions..
Any "clean" versions of burnaware that anyone knows about?
    thanks..

AVStoDVD has no adware or malware to avoid. It does not have burning capability by itself, but if you have ImgBurn installed, it can use that program to burn to a disc. You would have to change the default output by going to Options-->Output Setup and choose Burn DVD.
