So I just bought the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 so I could record my Xbox 360 gameplay, but every time I record in the default 1920x1080 the end result video looks grainy every time the camera moves. So when I'm standing still in any game the video looks beautiful, but when I move the video looks grainy. Could this be because my TV is 1080i and my xbox is set to 1080i? I was told you could record in really high definition even if the tv you are using isn't. Also, I record the videos as mp4 and the video comes out great when I scale them back to record in 1080i, but when I record in the default 1920x1080 or scale it back to 1080p it looks grainy. Is there any way top get past this? Do I have to buy a 1080p tv? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The Hauppauge HD PVR 2's max bitrate (~14 Mb/s) is insufficient for high motion 1080i content. But that may not be your problem. I find your post somewhat confusing. Upload a short sample.

So my xbox would have to be set to 1080p to be able to record in 1920x1080?

1080p30 (or 1080p60 decimated to 1080p30) might look a little better. But the device's max bitrate is really too low for 1080p30 recording too.
