How to create a dubbed track with stereo language and 5.1 Original track

Hi,

I have two separate audio tracks for a movie.

1) english 5.1 dts
2) tamil stereo

Can I copy a channel in stereo(with Tamil vocals) and replace the voice(center track) of english 5.1 and create a single 5.1 tamil track ?
If yes, how can I do this ?

I searched this forum and couldn't find the exact one. Can anyone help ?

Yes, but the dialog isn't always in the center track.

@jagabo: Yes, I agree with you but I would like to give a try. And I am fine with other channels containing english dialogs which is fairly less in mine.
Is there a way to do it ? Can we do it using Audacity ?

Yes, you can use Audacity. If you get the ffmpeg source plugin for Audacity it can import audio directly from your source files. I don't think it can export DTS but it can export 5.1 AC3.

You would need a dts encoder to be sure. I think I saw a post somewhere that apparently there is finally a freeware dts encoder, I'll try to dig it up and post the link, though don't know if its truly freeware or if it was a banned warez discussion. I'll try to get back with info.

You can always output six mono WAV files from Audacity then use some other program to make them into a DTS file.
