Hi,
I am thinking of getting the Philips 3406 but a quick search didn't show whether it can play AVCHDs or not.
It seems to play EVERYTHING so I would surprised if it doesn't...
Does anyone know?
Thanks

DOH! I found this: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers/philips-bdp3406/11515#comments
Looks like users confirmed AVCHD.. but if anyone else can confirm/deny I'd appreciate it... -
I have no experience with this player, but keep the following in mind.
Most BD players actually do support AVCHD. Sony, who is about as consumer hostile as they come with regards to DVD and BD players, supports it. So the odds are in your favor here.
Should you care (you may not), do note that Philips BD players can sometimes be made region free BUT they are NOT converting players. That means if you play PAL video with them, you only get PAL output. You play NTSC video on them, you only get NTSC output. This can be a problem for some/many North American TVs, including HDTVs. Some major brands don't support PAL video at all on their North American models. -
Ah OK. I just assumed HDMI took car of the format conversion.
The player is a second player for my Mom in the US so it has to play both NTSC and PAL (I know that Blu-Ray cannot be made region free easily if at all) .
I just need some cheap TV that can handle the PAL signal. I was thinking SAMSUNG....
