  1. Wow, I ordered it. It should be here today. Anyway I have a question for all of you. I want to use my new TV Tuner card to stream live TV programs accross the Internet or straight from my PC. What software application(s) do you recommend. Please share products and experiences. Here are my PC specs(note: this is a dedicated PC for this task, I have a higher end PC as a workstation):

-Windows 2000 Professional / SP2 (soon to be XP Pro)
    -Pentium II 450 MHz
    -256 MB RAM
    -Viper 550 TNT video card
-ATI TV Wonder (not VE version)
-Sound Blaster AWE 32 sound card
    -Enough HD Space

Thank you for everyone's responses in advance...

***I should add I have heard of SnapStream, but haven't tried it. I've read a few posts on other sites and from my limited search and readings it seems to be the program to use. If not let me know. Thanks again...

    afternoon monster,

sorry noone has answered your post since. Anyways. . .

I have the ATI-TV Wonder (atw) and I still use it, while my
DV cam (firewire card) is being used as well. I've since
worked out the IRQ's and settled on a combo that works (allows
both cards to work w/out problems)

The atw is a fine card. Ben using it for many months on my
old t-brd 900MHz cpu. On this card, i only need to cap at a
resolution of 352x480. Remember, it's not the AVI that will
give you good or bad quality, rather its the quality of the
    source you are capping from.
Your next step (encoding) will be the deciding factor here.
I use my atw in a windows 98 enviornmnet, and I use the vfw
driver with it, though I believe that somehow, it's using a
part of my ATI-Rage Fury (agp) cards hourse power to keep
frame drops to a minimum (just my theory) cause when I yanked
out the agp card and put back my old ati-rage 128 card, I
dropped frames like marbels. Just my hunch. Get an agp card
if you're gonna use the atw card. I only drop about 5 frames
an hour or less on my 30gig harddrive. But, I mostly use my
DV cam for capping now. I just like to compare my quality
of atw caps agains my DV cam caps. That's just me.

I'm still having lots of fun with my DV cam
    * I cap from my satalete (directv) very clean signal and gives
    me great quality vcd/svcd.

    Good luck with your atw.

RE: your ATI CARD is it The 128pro or what?
Anyway some the ati cards have a problem with XP so set it up your system you have now. I have the 128pro. and use win98SE works great untill I found the problems I fixed. re: XP on the site for ati they give you updated Drivers for XP but they don't always work for everyone. GOOD LUCK. By the way I capture with YUV planner 9 RAW looks good but takes alot of space on the drive.
