Hey everyone, new to this forum.
I just finished my first short film and I want to add top/bottom borders to the film. I did it how all youtube tutorials taught and it's not the way I want it to be.
I want to add the borders without affecting the aspect ratio. I want to maintain everything I have in the film. The methods I see is rather I stretch the video (widescreen) or adding borders where it chops of parts of the top and the bottom of the film.
So is there a way to add top/bottom borders without affecting any part of the film at all and maintaining what I currently have? Please help. Thanks in advance

Can you put a round peg in a square hole? What aspect ratio did you shoot in? What aspect ratio do you want the product to be?

I'm very new to this and this short is only for youtube so please understand if I dont understand some stuff. This is the current aspect ratio 1920x1080x12 and I want it to be like this for the final product with top/bottom borders without stretching or chopping the top/bottom off. is that possible?

	Not possible

The AR for 1920x1080 is 16:9 . When you have letterboxing it changes the AR

A common AR for films, released blu-ray is 2.35:1 , which is 1920x800 , but the top and bottom are filled with black borders to make up the full 1920x1080 (essentially they are cropped if shot on 16:9 - but most cinema releases aren't shot on 16:9 )

Unless you just want to add borders to make it non standard ?

e.g. 2320x1080 , by adding 200 to the top and bottom each ?

By the way, most 2.35:1 movies aren't shot at 2.35:1, they are cropped from a more square frame. The director is mindful of that while shooting. So if you want to mask your 16:9 videos to 2.35:1 you have to shoot with cropping in mind.

Use the TrackMotion tool to resize. Lock the AR during resize. Simple.

A bit more information would help

Have a look at this site and try to work out what you want
