Purchased a 32GB unbranded memory stick a few days ago for $7.

    It has given me problems.

Copied 24 GB worth of data onto it. Got a message saying drive was full even though i only put 24GB on it. Anyway after clicking ok. 60% of the files had just disappeared completely.
When i right clicked the memory stick (on the 'my computer' view) it says it was full with 19MB free.
Then when i went into it and highlighted all files, right clicked and clicked properties. It said there was only 6GB of data on there.

Wondering if theres a software which would repair errors on it or whatevers causing this?

I'd like to point out i'm unable to see those missing files on 6 different computers and also have reformatted it within windows and deleted the partition and recreated it. Exact same problem still....

    Any ideas people?

    Thanks

did you buy it from fleebay or somewhere like local pc world high street store? then take it back. if from fleebay then sounds like its a fake 32gb, a lot of these around on places like that.it registers as 32gb but its only a 4, 6 gb if that.
    or its just faulty.
    try
    Download test program http://www.heise.de/ct/Redaktion/bo/down…
After download the file, double-click on the zip file and extract it to c:\checkflash
Click on the file - h2testw.exe under c:\checkflash
Ready to test your flash drive Click on "Select target" and then choose your flash drive location in h2testw program window. It will take long time to test all available space. Most of the fake flash drive size is actually 1GB, 2GB, 4GB. I would suggest your select 5GB as start point. It will takes roughly 20-30mins to test.
Click on "Write + Verify", After the test is completed, you will see "Warning" message on result window.
    1) 3.7GB is your actual flash drive capacity
    2) the rest is junk.
If you see similar test result, your flash drive or pen drive is fake. Good flash drive or pen drive will not have error or warning.

A friend of mine from London bought one of these from a street vendor over the past year.
    .....so much for "fleebay".

And you do realize even if it is a 32gb stick, you will never get a full 32gb of storage out of it, same as hard drives.

But for $7.00 ya really can't bitch for 24gb's of storage......

Even my 8gb sticks only show 7.38gb, but still, a 32gb should be close to 30, 29.??

It is kind of funny because my son was just telling me they have scandisk 32gb sticks at his work for around $18.00

    haha

Yes i guess i wouldnt have minded too much if it was 8GB as it was still very cheap but wheneveri even put a GB onto it it just deletes suddenly so its as much as a 1 legged man in an ass kicking competition.
