  1. Hi there! Having never heard of the old saying, "Anything that seems too good to be true, probably is", I read a nice Spam e-mail today that said"

"buy this new software 50 dollars - copy now all you DVD disc with flopy drive u will save lot of money! hurry up, you buy from us"

It went on to explain (in no great detail) that i could put any DVD disk into my 3.5" floppy drive and copy to a regular CD-R (also using the floppy drive) with no loss of quality!

Since I believe that you can:

    1. Lose weight without reducing caloric intake or exercising.

    2. Get really rich in just a short period of time using a hellaciously expensive set of tapes and mimeographed pamphlets purchased from a TV infomercial.

    3. Gamble and win more than you lose.

    - then I also think this DVD>Floppy>CD-R with no loss of quality thing sounds like a winner!

WOOHOO I WILL SAVE LOT OF MONEY!!!!
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

Well, yes, but I havent made it work yet. I've set up the hot plate, melted the DVD and poured it into the floppy drive, but it's not recognizing the data.

Ah, well, off to amazon.com to buy all the latest diet books, then there's a Ron Popeil gadget, some sort of "hair in a can" stuff that looks better than admitting I'm getting a bald spot (I wear a hat now and just KNOW that I'm fooling everyone), and as soon as the health food stores open I'll go buy some special expensive supplement that does something they won't guarantee, and that the FDA won't approve. Hope springs eternal!
