Hi,
I've burned many VCD's before but never really thought of this till now. When you wanna burn a movie on a 700MB CD-r...do worry how big the file is in terms of size (MB) or length. Cause I wanna burn a movie that is 1hr 10 mins...but it's 704 MB....will it fit on a 700MB CD-R...or do I have to overburn?
Thanx in advance!
Mook

What's with this "should" word? Have you ever successfully done that? I had a 79:50 movie that resulted in a 795M file that I could not record onto an 80 minute CD via either Nero or EZCD Creator Plat 5. Who here has actually burned an 80 minute video onto an 80 minute CD-R?

I have burned up to an 85 Min move on on 80 Min CD using Nero and the OverBurn feature...no problems......play back on a Samsung M301, Hitachi 343 and Panasonic LV55 Portable.

Use Nero 5.0.4.8 to burn
i always have had success with that version even with non-compliant (S)VCD's :D -
Hey Bud, have you ever tried burning an 80 minute movie onto an 80 minute CR-R using Nero without the Overburn option?

House De Kris,
Obviously you do need overburn enabled in the software, HOWEVER going over 78:30 in clip size is usually dependant SOLELY on the burner.
Someone posted this earlier.
be sure to check burner compatibility tables at http://www.disc4you.com/news/99min.html
For example - I know my older HP 8100i can only burn up to 78:30, but I switched it out to a Mitzumi 4804, and now can burn up to 79:45~~~Spidey~~~

1. Your burner can actually burn to the full capacity of an 80 min CD-R
2. Your MPEG is muxed correctly
3. One track only is absolutely bare minimum of overhead
You can fit about 79min and 46 seconds of standard VCD MPEG-1 onto one 80min CD without overburning. This is about 795.5 MB I think.
This is without overburning. If you can overburn, you should be able to fit about 1-2 minutes more.

Hell, we're burning 120+ minutes of movie now on a 80 minute CD-R.
( Although it's still within 800MB file size, but that's another story! )
Right Bud?

For anything else other than standard VCD (XVCD or SVCD or XSVCD), the limit is about (less than) 796 MB on 80 min media without overburning.
