  1. Basically what I'd like to do is have the a few audio tracks on a CD that can be played in a car audio player and then place the CD in a computer to view the video.

I know how to do both but on separate CDs. I'd like to learn how to do it on the same CD....or if it's even possible

  2. my first question would be do you want it to be vcd or svcd standard? if not, you can use either mixed mode or cd extra in nero. It wont play as a (s)vcd but you can put avi mpg mov or whatever format you like... it'll be considered data

  3. Actually I would put it as a regular avi or mpg file and use the autorun.inf to auto start it in a computer.

I tried to burn (using Easy CD) a data file (without finalizing it) and then using the musicCD to out a few Mp3 on it. It relabled the data as a track1.cda file.

If you know how to do it in Nero that would help

    Thanks

  4. it's very easy with nero. just select a mixed mode cd, put the audio tracks in the bottom window and the avi in the top window. BTW it might have worked if you did an audio cd not closed and then put the video in. (i don't think you can make an audio cd in the 2nd session burning)

  5. or you can use the cd extra mode, i think that might be better. cause it puts the audio file first...

  6. I've put cd audio tracks on a vcd/svcd.

The audio plays in cd players and the video plays in dvd players (and in dvdroms). This is good for putting vcd/svcd music videos and cd audio on 1 cdr.

It's called Mixed Mode CD (video track first, followed by audio tracks). If you make a CD Extra (audio tracks first followed by video tracks), you cannot make a vcd/svcd because dvd players will recognize it only as an audio cd.

Use Easy Cd Creator and make a "Mixed Mode" CD, you will have 2 windows, one for data and one for the music tracks. AVI on the data tracks, drop your MP3's or Wav into the Audio window.

  8. If you just want to access the video on the PC (e.g., DivX), then do as the above.

If you want to create a VCD, you cannot make a mix-mode CD.

VCDs, however, support CD-DA tracks in the specs but at present, only VCD Toolkit can make it (to my knowledge).

You can make a VCD Mix Mode. It will play in an audio cd player (e.g., portable walkman as an audio cd) and it will play in dvd players as a vcd. It's called avcd (used in HK) and it can easily be done with vcdimager. You can also adapt it to svcds.

I have tested this on 3 different dvd players and 1 audio player.

  11. My 2 cents:I would use cd-extra because if you make a mixed-mode cd
you can damage your car stereo's preamp when it tries to read the data(mpeg) first.

That would be nice (to protect those with really old car cd players) but if you use cd-extra, having the audio tracks first, it will be recognized only as an audio cd in standalone dvd players. That is why you must use Mix Mode cd to create the vcd/svcd - audio cd hybrid.

Using Mix Mode isn't a problem with most cd players these days. Even my old 1996 portable Panasonic personal cd player knows to not play the data/video tracks. It just stays silent in the data/video tracks.

  13. Cypherwolf said "play in cd player in car ..... be able to play in computer"
    NOT stand-alone dvd player.

Really? As I stated, you can put CD-DA tracks on a VCD (it is in the specs). This is not a mixed-mode CD.

However, you cannot do this with VCDImager v0.7.12 which is the newest official version. I've talked to hvr about this and he states that this isn't a particular priority at the moment either.

If there is some way around this (?? cue sheet editing) please post as I haven't heard or read anything about it.

    Regards.
